Amazing Anti Aging Supplements for Gorgeous Skin

Aging is inevitable, we all know that right? But if you can slow down the natural aging process with Anti Aging Supplements for Gorgeous Skin why not. After all, I am no fan of painful needles to look ageless. Of course, you can’t reverse the effects of aging, but anti-aging supplements can help you age elegantly and beautifully by improving your overall skin health and protecting it from further damage.

I highly recommended that you consult a doctor before taking these pills, especially if taking other medications. Your doctor is the best person to recommend the correct dosage for this supplement, depending on the needs of your body.

Here are the top anti aging supplements for gorgeous skin that will help you get the skin you’ve always dreamed of:

  1. Collagen / an amazing anti aging supplement

It turns out this fountain of youth has been popular in Japan for 13+ years. Celebrities swear by its beauty benefits: smoother skin, stronger nails, and shinier hair. There are a couple of ways to boost your collagen, either in food & drinks or in natural skincare products.

What is Collagen exactly?

Collagen is like this wonder glue that holds your body together. Collagen comes from the Greek word “kólla,” meaning “glue” and the French “-gène,” meaning “something that produces.” In other words, it is a “glue-producing” protein. It is an amazing anti aging supplement.

If you have poor levels of collagen your skin would be dry and thin, your nails brittle, your muscles can’t grow, and your bones would be very fragile. That’s why it’s the most abundant protein in our bodies. It is a major structural protein, making up about 75% of our skin.

Dosage Suggestion

Not all collagen supplements are created equal – their collagen peptides come from different sources and in various concentrations. Clinical studies of ingestible collagen peptides demonstrate the therapeutic level for demonstrable results is 10,000mg/day.

That’s why I use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides in my lattes. Their collagen protein contains 20,000 milligrams of collagen per serving, more than what many doctors recommended. So that was impressive I thought.

  1. Coenzyme Q10

Your body naturally produces coenzyme, but the levels of CoQ10 you make and store decline with age. You can get coenzyme Q10 from foods like organ meats, oysters, cruciferous vegetables, avocados, and fish that are high in fatty acids like mackerel and sardines.

Consuming CoQ10 improves skin smoothness, combats the appearance of dark spots, reduces the visible signs of aging, improves dermal thickness, and hydration levels.

CoQ10 supplements are generally safe when used as directed, however, some people may experience an upset stomach and other digestive side effects when supplementing with CoQ10. When in doubt, talk to your doctor or healthcare provider.

Dosage Suggestion

If you want skin benefits, look for CoQ10 in amounts between 50 and 150 mg (that’s the studied amount).

  1. Vitamin C / an amazing anti aging supplement

Vitamin C is found naturally in our skin. It supports many functions, such as aiding collagen synthesis, maintaining skin elasticity, and protecting the skin from UV damage or photodamage. Vitamin C keeps your skin healthy when taken orally and when applied to the skin.

Dosage Suggestion

The tolerable upper limit of vitamin C dosage for adults is 2000 mg per day. That’s the highest daily intake without any risks. For healthy women, it is 75 mg per day. For pregnant women, it is 120 mg per day. Try and take your vitamin C with food at the same time each day so it becomes a habit.

  1. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an essential nutrient with anti-inflammatory properties

The most common form of vitamin E that is available as a supplement is d-alpha-tocopherol. A study found that the oral intake of a combination of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and d-alpha-tocopherol in human volunteers helped reduce skin damage caused by UV rays.

Also, taking natural vitamin E prevents collagen crosslinking and lipid peroxidation, thus preventing skin aging.

Dosage Suggestion

The amount of vitamin E you need daily is based on your age. Teens, adults, and pregnant women should consume around 15 milligrams each day, according to the National Institutes of Health. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin so you should take it with fat. There is no right or wrong time to take your D, if you take it with food.

  1. Vitamin A/ amazing anti aging supplement

There are two main types of vitamin A – retinoids and carotenoids. When you orally ingest vitamin A, your liver converts it to retinol.

Note: Do not take isotretinoin and vitamin A pills together. Taking isotretinoin with any other vitamin pills may cause toxicity.

Dosage Suggestion

The dosage for vitamin A has a wide range, depending on your age and health conditions. The recommended dietary allowance for vitamin A for men (19+ years) is 900mcg RAE, and for women (19+ years) is 700 mcg RAE. For pregnant women (19-50 years), it is 770 mcg RAE, and for lactating women (19-50 years), it is 1300 mcg RAE.

  1. Zinc

Our skin contains 6% of the total concentration of zinc in our body, and this trace element plays a crucial role in skin maintenance. Zinc is an important nutrient for healthy skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is useful for inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and ulcers.

One of the best ways to increase your zinc intake is by consuming zinc-rich foods like meat, legumes, dairy, nuts, eggs, and whole grains. If you have low levels of zinc in your body, it may interfere with your skin health and make it age faster.

Dosage Suggestion

The recommended dietary allowance for zinc in men (19+ years) is 11 mg and in women (19+ years) is 8 mg. For pregnant women (19+ years), it is 11 mg, and for lactation women of the same age group, it is 12 mg. However, supplements may contain zinc in several forms (zinc sulfate, zinc gluconate, zinc acetate), and the percentage of zinc may vary with the form. Zinc supplements are most effective if they are taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. However, if zinc supplements cause stomach upset, they may be taken with a meal.

  1. Curcumin

This compound is found in turmeric. Curcumin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is effective in improving many dermatological conditions. It’s an amazing anti aging supplement.

Studies suggest that curcumin supplements can improve various skin conditions caused by photoaging, like the signs of aging and skin damage caused by UV exposure.

Dosage Suggestion

Whether administered orally, topically, or as a powder, the Cleveland Clinic recommends taking 500 to 1,000 milligrams per day for the general population. Most people find success taking turmeric either in the morning to start their day, or at night before bed to combat inflammation from the day’s activities. You can also take it with a meal since curcumin absorption increases when paired with healthy fats.

  1. Polyphenols

Polyphenols are a group of about 4,000 antioxidants. You’ll find them naturally in wine, chocolate, fruits like grapes and pomegranates, vegetables, and green tea.  Chocolate as an amazing anti aging supplement… who knew?  How cool.

Dosage Suggestion

You should aim for a minimum of 1000 mg per day. The concentration of polyphenols in vegetables (0.1% by weight) and fruits (0.2% by weight) can be low, requiring high levels of consumption. To give a sense of what 1000mg of polyphenols per day looks like, it could be approximately 12 cups of cauliflower, 1.5 cups of blueberries, or 3 glasses (~5 fluid ounces each) of red wine or some combination of various fruits and vegetables.

I get most of my polyphenols in my green tea and dark chocolate. Antioxidant-rich dark chocolate has 1,664 milligrams of polyphenols per 100 grams. The serving size of chocolate is typically 28 grams (1 ounce). Always buy dark chocolate that is at least 70 percent to ensure that you get the best dark chocolate possible.

  1. Apigenin

Apigenin is a polyphenol flavonoid with potent antioxidant properties that many biohackers and health enthusiasts are now taking for enhanced sleep and anti-aging benefits. Your body gets apigenin mainly through fruits, vegetables, and herbs (such as chamomile). Drinking chamomile tea and adding dried parsley to recipes are two of the best ways to consume the flavonoid.

Dosage Suggestion

Apigenin treatment is reported to be safe, even at high dosages. But I advise you to be careful because there is always a risk. Remember the saying, less is more. Apigenin most commonly comes in 50 mg pills.

  1. Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids (EFA) that can be obtained from dietary sources and are another amazing anti aging supplement.

Exposure to UV rays is one of the leading causes of premature aging, dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. A study showed that omega-3 fatty acids could prevent the inflammation caused by UV exposure. Fish oil is the primary source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Dosage Suggestion

The recommended for omega-3 for men (19-50+ years) is 1.6 grams, and for females of the same age group is 1.1 grams. For pregnant women (19-50 years), it is 1.4 grams, and for lactating women of the same age group, it is 1.3 grams. Take the right before a meal, so they go down first.

  1. Fisetin

Fisetin is an antioxidant that’s found in fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, apples, and cucumbers.

Dosage Suggestion

Recommendations on fisetin supplement labels vary as well, with doses ranging from 100–500 milligrams per day. There isn’t enough research to make an educated recommendation on an appropriate fisetin dosage. Researchers do know that the antioxidant is fat-soluble, so consuming it with fats promotes better absorption.

  1. Nicotinamide Riboside

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a newly discovered form of vitamin B3 that is found naturally in trace amounts in milk.

Dosage Suggestion

In clinical trials, NR supplements have been well-tolerated at doses as high as 1,000 mg per day, suggesting that it’s likely safe for most people. NR supplements can be taken on an empty stomach or with meals.

Summary for amazing anti aging supplements.

Because amazing anti aging supplements are unregulated, they will have different combinations as per the brand. It’s always prudent to check the website of the brand to see if their supplement is tested and verified by any third-party agency regarding the ingredients on the label and the pills/powder/soft gels. Just a friendly reminder to check with your doctor if these amazing anti aging supplements could potentially interfere with your current health program and medications. Getting gorgeous skin in your 50s is not as easy as popping a pill. You need to take care of your diet, lifestyle, and of course, use the right skin care products.
