According to Reuters, PayPal is rumored to have made a $45 billion offer to acquire Pinterest. People who use Pinterest weekly are 7x more likely to say it’s the most influential platform in their shopping journey, compared to other social networks.
There are a plethora of reasons why your ecommerce business should leverage Pinterest. In fact, Pinterest is making it easier for businesses to reach and convert traffic into sales. Here’s what Pinterest is working on right now:
Shoppers on Pinterest have 85% bigger baskets (shopping carts) than shoppers on other platforms and they spend twice as much per month.
Pinterest shoppers love video and are open to browsing more than one product at a time which means more chances of you making a sale.
Slideshow for collections pulls products from your catalog into an automatically generated, attention-grabbing collections ad. This new feature helps you easily produce lightweight, video-like hero content that’s dynamically created and tailored to every shopper.
As a vetted merchant you can choose to display your brand’s values like “responsibly sourced,” “invested in good” and “inclusive” on your profile. You can also highlight communities you belong to, such as “Black-owned,” “Latinx-owned,” “Woman-owned,” “LGBTQ+ owned,” “Disability-owned” and more.
If you’re a merchant in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the UK or the US, apply to join the Verified Merchant Program.
Being accepted in the VMP is a big deal because Pinterest will prioritize and feature your products over those that are not part of the program. If you need help figuring it out ask me a Pinterest ads manager.
Pinterest is helping creators make money on Pinterest by bringing new partnership opportunities to brands and advertisers.
Pinterest is currently testing Idea Ads with paid partnership. How does it work? The creator will make the Idea Pin and tags their brand partner. The advertiser can boost their Idea Pin by buying ads. Idea Ads are currently being tested with a select group of creators and brands in 15 countries and will continue to extend to more audiences soon.
